GK Homes and Roofing - Professional, Transparent, & Local
Most residential roofs are completed in one to two days depending on the size, pitch, and weather. Larger or more complex roofs may take an additional day for detail and cleanup.
Our crew typically arrives between 6:45 AM and 7:30 AM to begin setup and protect your property before tear-off. We start early to ensure we complete as much as possible before the afternoon heat.
Yes - roofing work can be loud inside your home, especially during tear-off and nailing. We recommend planning activities or calls away from home during working hours if you're sensitive to noise.
Yes. Please park on the street or away from the driveway before work begins. We will need clear access for material delivery, a dumpster, and crew parking. The dumpster will likely block your garage temporarily.
We take great care to protect landscaping, driveways, and patios with tarps, plywood, and magnetic nail sweeps. Our crew cleans throughout the day and again after completion to ensure your property is spotless.
No. You're welcome to be home, but it's not required. We just ask that pets remain safely inside and that gates are unlocked for access.
If rain is forecasted, we'll cover any exposed areas with heavy-duty tarps and schedule work to resume as soon as weather permits. We never leave your home exposed overnight.
If we discover rotted or damaged decking, we'll document it with photos and notify you immediately. Decking replacements are billed per sheet (typically noted in your contract), and no changes are made without your approval.
We install GAF Certified Roofing Systems, meaning your roof includes all matching GAF components - not just shingles. This ensures full manufacturer warranty protection and long-term performance.
All installations come with:
GAF Lifetime Limited Warranty (on qualifying systems)
GK Homes & Roofing Workmanship Warranty
We'll review both in detail after installation and provide all documentation for your records.
Cleanup is a priority. We perform a full magnetic sweep of your yard, driveway, and flower beds. We also schedule a final quality check and driveway cleaning to ensure everything looks perfect.
Final payment is due upon completion and your satisfaction - once we've inspected and you've approved the finished work.
Absolutely! We appreciate referrals. When your referral leads to a completed roof replacement, you'll receive a $500 referral reward as a thank-you.
You'll have a direct line to Garett Kates throughout your project. You can text or call anytime with questions or to request updates.
After Your Roof Installation - What to Expect
GK Homes and Roofing - Quality You Can See, Service You Can Trust
Once installation is complete, we perform a final inspection to ensure all components meet GAF specifications and GK workmanship standards. We also do a detailed cleanup, magnetically sweeping for nails and debris. You'll receive photos and warranty registration information shortly after.
A small amount of residual debris can happen, especially after rain or wind. We do a thorough cleanup, but please let us know if you find any nails or shingles afterward - we'll be happy to return and address it.
Yes - this is completely normal. New shingles release protective granules for the first few weeks, and you might notice them in gutters or around downspouts. Any slight asphalt smell will fade within a few days.
Not at all. New shingles can appear slightly uneven until they settle and seal under heat and sun exposure. Within a few warm days, they'll lay perfectly flat.
If your roof is part of the GAF Lifetime Roofing System, we'll handle registration for you and send confirmation. You'll receive warranty documentation by email or mail within a few weeks.
Yes - after the first good rain, it's wise to look in your attic or ceiling areas for any moisture. Leaks are rare, but early checks can catch small issues before they become big ones.
Avoid walking on the roof for at least two weeks, as shingles need time to seal. Also, postpone installing new gutters or solar panels until after your roof has been fully inspected and approved.
Typically 48-72 hours of warm, sunny weather allows the adhesive to bond completely. Cooler or cloudy weather can extend that time slightly.
Don't worry - your roof is watertight immediately upon completion. The sealing process will continue naturally with heat and time.
Keep gutters clear of leaves and granules
Trim back overhanging branches
Schedule a free annual inspection to catch small maintenance items early
Avoid pressure washing or heavy foot traffic on the roof
